General Why WPB? FAQ Technical Analytics
WPB Campaign Tracking
WPB appends tracking parameters to the URLs it generates. These attribute traffic to a campaign called WPB which can be used in Google Analytics to track activity orignating from WPB. The codes allow an analysis of which links and methods which sourced the traffic.
Sadly the tracking codes are not flawless. If the linked URL is redirected the codes are not passed on. In this case traffic will be marked as "Direct" in Google Analytics. Also with some sites the tracking codes break the URLs. If I spot this happening I disable tracking for that feed. If you'd like to disable the tracking codes for your site for this or any other reason drop me an email.
If you're interested in the meanings of the tracking codes the following table gives the full list.
