I thought my trip to the beach early this week was going to be delayed due to fighting off the head cold that seems to be going around like a wildfire, but luckily (though it hit me hard) it was short in duration and I was feeling much better this morning. (more...)

Heavyweight Fight
Seeing two male lions have a go at each other is an amazing sight! Yeah yeah I know I said that I am going to try and photograph other subjects rather than lions!  The thing is that I quite like the following sequence of two fully grown male lions having a fight and I also kinda ran out of time in between trying to sort out the aftermath of an office PC crash. Sounds evocative
Greenfingers recently posted a piece called Call of the Wild extolling the virtues of the sound of the redshank andasking his readers if they have 'any iconic wildlife sounds that convey the same sense of place? Sounds are such an important contributor to atmosphere that its so difficult to pick one above others. (more...)

Yay, yay, yay, not great news, but at least... new news. For weeks now the same sweet little songbirds have been visiting the feeders. I promise you, just as an owner of a little of Pekinese pups, can tell the difference between them, even with their similarities, my little songbird friends are beginning to take on such personalities, that I feel like I know them apart. Duringthe past two days a Grey Squirrel has made a return visit to the garden after an absence of about three years when a previous neighbour used to feed them and they caused havoc everywhere they went. (more...)
